The genesis of the Fiddle Crabs was born out of happenstance and desperation. It was a cold January Sunday in 2010. Mary and Les drove up to Ellenton from Punta Gorda (over 70 miles) in an irrational search for an Old-time music jam. So, there we sat in 40 degree weather, playing fiddle tunes with Craig and some friends of his for a couple of hours. Afterwards, having thawed out, Craig suggested we put together a threesome and play some tunes at the Sarasota Farmer's Market.
By the time we got a date and got a tune list, it was almost March or maybe it was March. Anyway, in the mean time we played a few tunes at the Palmetto Florida Folk Tuesday night thing at Kojak's Palmetto Ribhouse. That was a very encouraging showing. They even asked us back! We ended up doing two gigs for the Sarasota Farmer's Market. Great doughnuts!!!The rest is yet to come.
