Falling Branch Band offers a very personal presentation of traditional American music. We interpret and arrange
the vocals and instrumentals to fit our mood and inclinations. Almost all our music comes out of
the southern Appalachian tradition. We all live in the Appalachian Mountains in Elkins, WV.
The band has been in existence since 1980, and has been playing and singing old-time tunes
for twenty-five years with various band members. The present band members are:
- Ken Sheller on banjo (sometimes guitar) and vocals
- Hazel Wood on bass (sometimes udu) and vocals
- Mary Caraher on fiddle (sometimes guitar) and vocals
- Les Caraher on guitar (sometimes banjo and sometimes autoharp) and vocals.
We are primarily a vocal band and take great pride in our harmony singing. We also play
many traditional fiddle and banjo tunes.
